He is chief of The Dept. of Surgical Pathology at St. Mary's Hospital which along with the Mayo Clinic is part of the graduate school of the univer- sity of Minnesota. . He was born at St. Peters Road in 1909 and attended Iona tnow Cardro.-rt School for ten years. Except for three months when he walked three miles to school at Cardigan. In 1925 he received a scholarship and entered P.W.C.. T Which he attended for three years. receiving scholarships for each years work. Dr. Docherty recalled that while he attended P.W.C. he paid 52.50 a week for board and his landlady complained that she couldn't make money "Even at that." At the end of his third year. by taking extra courses in physics and chemistry, and attending summer school. he was able to enter Dalhousie University and complete two years in one.
