Sharp at the comparatively early age of 4'1 years. -Dr. Sharp passed away at 4.45 a. m. Monday, less than- 24 hours after Dr. Glliis, of Kenslng- ton had passed away. Dr. Sharp had a heart attack a- bout two weeks ago, but had recov- ered and was feeling quite well on Sunday. l-Ie was born in Summer- slde, the son of the late John A. Sharp and Mrs. Sharp. He was ed- ucated at the Summerslde High School and later at Acadia Univer- sity. I-Ic afterwards went to McGlll University, where he took his Medi- cal Degree. At the outbreak of the Great war he went with the McGill Medical unirfto the front. Later he joined the Imperial Royal Army Medical Corps. and served with that unit until the close of the war. He was mentioned in u atches several times and on April 9, 191'i, received the Military Cross “for gallant and distinguished bravery in the field," having been mentioned in a dis- patch by Field Marshal Sir D0118- las Haig for this special honour. After the war he returned to Mon- heal and took a special Msdlcfll iCourse at the Montreal General Hospital. Friends from all parts of the Province attendedn besides members of the medical profession from the east and west. Rev. Mr. Archibald, pastor of the United Church at Bedeque was in charge of the funeral and deliver- ed the address, in which he refer- red to the great loss to the oom- munity of such a. man as Dr. Sharp, who was skilled in his pro- fession and a man whose place would be hard to fill. He also re- ferred to his splendid record dur- ing active service in the Great War bringing the reward of the Military Cross. Rev. Mr. Crowo read the scripture lesson, and Rev. C. J. St. Clair Jeans and Rev. J. W. Nichol- son offered prayer. Rev. Mr. Archi- bald sang by special request, "Face to Face." The house was filled to capacity for the service and for some distance cars lined each side of the road. Members of the Can- adian Legion were present; also members of the Masonic Iodge.
