By Aldera Chisholm and Carol Schneider As Bruce Davison did last year, we undertook to find out exactly where the many candidates stand on issues we as students feel are important. Admittedly, we used a very similar questionnaire to the one Bruce Student Union Candidates On the Issues meetings that the SU hosts and | will keep in contact on a regular basis with all the executives. VP FINANCE used last year, but we added our own special touches. We asked every candidate to draw themselves in office some of these inspired works will appear in this paper for all to see. Some of the questions we posed were: 1. Why are you running for this position? 2. If elected, what will your objectives be for your term? 3. If elected, are you prepared to put your duties ahead of your academic work, at least sometimes? 4. How important do you think the UPEISU’s lobbying with the government is? What should our objectives be? 5. How do you view the relationship between CIMN and the X-Press with the SU as representatives of the campus? 6. How do you propose to keep Student Council and the rest of the Student Union informed of what you are doing on their behalf? Due to the vast numbers of people running for positions, we have limited this article to the executive responses and have chosen to print the questions that best relate to the position being sought... Thanks to Steve, Christie, Nicole, Nelson, and Chrissy for submitting their surveys. If there are differences in the length of responses printed, this does not reflect a preference for individual candidates - it is due to space limitations and the length of surveys remitted. Special thanks to Amber Allin and the other candidates who were brief and concise. Our typeset- ter appreciates you. Several candidates did not return their questionnaires, therefore they cannot be included in this rundown. Several candidates noted that they would write columns in the X-Press if elected. We would like to see them do so even if they are not elected -- gee, that would fill many blank pages!
