Additional chairs were carried to the back of the auditor- ium and after they were occupied there were still a number of people standing. The programme was under the direction of Mr. Frank G. Johnson. A. T. C. L., organist and choir director, and will long be mnem- bered by all those who attended. The choir have been rehearsing numbers for their special evening of music since as far back as June. and the pleasure with which their beautiful singing was received last evening is proof indeed that their work has not been without results. The church was tastefully dec- orated wiih trees and boughs. stnmg with strings of colored lights, and made a most attractive setting for this most beautiful of services. The first three numbers on the program were sung by a group of 37 juniors who comprised the In- iermediate Choir assisted by pup- ils of Marshfield and Cross Roads Schooll. The choir was attired in white. gowns, and following their first group of selections retired to the balcony choir loft in order that the senior choir might occupy the seats around the organ. Forty members of the senior choir were in "attendance. and soloists for the evening were Mrs. Bruce MacPherson. Mrs. Arthur Roper and Miss Norms Dalziei. The Zion Male octette were also heard in one selection. Rev. G. Carlyle Webster. Min- ister of Zion Church was heard towards the end of the two hour program in an impressive reading of John Greenieaf W'hittier's poem "A Christmas Carmen.” Scoutiiews 'scouten' Club Carol singing and a Christmas tree were features of the mec'Ing of the Charlottetown Scouiers club held at Birch Cort last night. Santa Kerr had a gift for each which was delivered by his not so little helper I-larry Pineau. 'rhe meeting took the usual form of a troop and pack meeting and a review of the teaching of hand signals, flag and First Aid were conducted by Harry. Gordon Kerr and Gordon Rodd.-After the coun- cil fire the meeting adjourned to the kitchen where the President. Mrs. Parent presided over coffee and doughnuts which were enjoyed by all. Regret was expressed at the absence through illness of Miss Pearl Coady. Samples of the Pro- vincial emblem were examined and the concensus of opinion seein- ed to be that the background is too dark and probably grey would be better. The next meeting will be Jan. ll.
