The Hon. T.W.L. Prowse. The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m. with the formation of a par- ade at the site of the Old Legion gommwhlch was destroyed by re. Lead by the Summerslde Air Force Band the parade will pro- ceed along the Trans-Canada High- way towards the R.C.M.P. bar- racks whera the salute will be tak- j en by Lieutenant Governor Prowse. then Dwceeding along the high- way to the new Legion Home in the outer section of the town. The parade will halt In front of the home where the band will take up a position at the right of the building. The ceremony at this point will include the singing of 0 Canada, the sounding of the Last Post, the observance of a two minute silence. Revidle. the reading by Lloyd Clarke, the laying of the wreath by the Lieutenant-Goverm or, and Poppies by veterans and Legion members. The names of fallen comrades from Borden and surounding areas will be read by by Lloyd Clark. Remarks following the chair- man's introduction will be made by Mayor Willard Leard. During the month of April 1953. Provincal Command contacted past members regarding the re- grouping and reopening of tho Borden branch. A meeting was called and the officers elected were: piesldent. Jack Mclsaac, sec-lretary-treasurer, Ernery Rich- ar . . The Branch started off with ap- proximately N members in the Legion building opposite the skat- king rink and ther has been a steady increase of membership since that date. The Legion activities are many and varied. Donations to charita- ble organizations, Christmas par- ties for the children and Christmas boxes given out to the needy. An artifical leg was given to a local boy who quickly adapted himael' to it. In winter months the ice rink has been operated by the Leg- ion each year since 1953. In 1954 it was found that a new home was needed and plans were proposed for its construction. Then in May 1955. the Legion Home was lost by fire. The building and furnishings were completely des- troyed with only about S1,000 Insur- ance of the loss. This set back was overcome by renting and re- novating the building that once had been the old drug store. Fur- nishings were loaned and branch activities. continued.
