On the 4th of August last, the schooner ‘‘ Moro Castle,” of Gloucester, Mass., anchored a mile off the shore, for the purpose of procuring bait. During the absence of the captain, the crew attempted to catch a few squid. The vessel was boarded by 300 natives, who drove the erew into the cabin and forecastle, and got sail under way. The captain returned and found the islanders drifting on the rocks ; they were frightened, left the vessel, and eame near goingashore. The day previous, the schooner ‘‘ Victor’ was boarded ina similar manner and violence used to pre- venther lishing. The Newfoundland Gov- ernment’s objection to Sunday fishing and the use of seines does not hold in this case, as the crew of the ‘‘ Moro Castle’ were line fishing and had only taken about a dozen squid. ee ee ee Qucen’s County Hiection.
