President's Report 1t is with pride and pleasure that I present the sixth annual president's report of the activities of the Charlottetown Riding Club for the year 1937 and 38 a very successful year financially as you have seen by the treasurers report. The past year was an active one. and the members took advan- tage of the fine riding. and the horses were out a. lot during the spring and fall especially. A new club horse was purchased and he has been very satisfactory. A visit from Mr. M. B. Zwicker in the spring helped create inter- est in this sport and the club alp- preciates his assistance. The horse show held in connec- tion with the Provincial Exhibition was again very successful although we missed the competition of the Halifax Club who were unable to attend. However. we hope to have them with us this year, also horses from Amherst and St. John. Numerous drag hunts were held in the early fall and the club ap- preciates the efforts of our MEI-L, Mr. C. N. Bissett, whose untiring efforts to make this part od- the club's activities a success is indeed appreciated. the early Biz Jim ‘lurner. who won 20 last year for Boston Bees, flames took another stride toward equali- ing that mark when he turned in a live-hit performance that stopped Brooklyn Dodgers, 4-1 in Boston. It was the Boston right-handers sec- ond triumph of the young season. Bianked for six inning Cincinnati overcame a seven-run disadvantage and with rallies in three frames League. _ It was the fourth straight decat for Frankie Frischs crew, three of em shutouts. Yankees Display Power Defeating Athletics 5-3 Bonura and Travis. of Washinr ton, and Desauteis. of Boston hit home runs. We took a carload of our horses to the Maritime Winter Fair at Amherst and won a fair share of the prizes. ' Island saddle horses were also represented at the Royal Whiter Fair at Toronto and figured in the prize lists. The horses were kept i.u excel- lent condition last year and I voice the appreciation of the club to our men who took care of the horses. I would like to compliment the Ladies Committee who worked un- tlringly to make the club picnics and entertainments a success. The club house and stabla are in good repair. although it will be necessary to make a small expend- iture for new lumps, wings, etc. in the jump ring. It is the intention of the club to hold a horse show on the club property in June and it is hoped that all merntbers will cooperate to make this show a success. In closinsz 1 would like to thank all members of the club for the hearty cc-operation they gave me at all times in forwarding the wel- fare of the club, and I trust my successor will meet with the same enthusiastic supgrt. slalom ‘lil A Packed in waxed pa and freshness.
