In his opening remarks Mr. Sab- ourin said this political contest is one of the most momentous since» confederation. "We are emargingi from two world wars and we are facing the axiom that we must b9! eternally vigilant if we do not want to lose our freedom. Socialism is threatening our democratic instit- utions," he continued, “and this danger will be much closer if we allow the present government to, remain in power.” v Mr. Sabourin said that a Social- ist today is a Liberal. Referring to the fishing indus- try Mr. Sabourin suggested that the Federal Department has not been properly looking after the in- terests of the fishermen of Prince County. In this election fight there are some who will cater to religion and tongue. "l am sure it will not pay." Mr. John Price also addressed the meeting, stating that it was wonderful to see so many present in spite of the bad weather. (it had rained in Prince County since mid- afternoon.) People should attend all political meetings, he said, so that they might be able to judge for themselves the merits of the didates and Judge their capabili- ties. Mr. Price said he was pleased to see so many women present, re- marking that 54 per cent of the voting population is composed of women. He lscussed the platform of the Progressive Conservative Party, which he said was drawn up in the interests of the country as s whole. The meeting was also addressed by Mrs. Price and by Mr. Wilfred Tanion of Alberlon. Mr. Clarence Morrlsscy acted os chairman.
