About the year 1930 it was estimated by that the waste from (il-SCOIOYBEIOD in the canned products amounted to tron-l $30,000.00 t0 $50,000.00 up with the Department of Fisher- ies, and in the year 1023 a. ghomugh investigation was made as to the cause of this discoloration. Dr. Harrison, an eminent scientist, was sent to this Province to study the conditions existing in the lobster carulerics here: investigations were also carried on by Professors Reid and McLeod. They found that three groups of bacteria were ‘res- ponsible for discoloration in the canned product, viz., (a) Flavo Bacillus: (b) Pseudomonas, and (c) Bacillus, all three of which. .
