t r Out Our ,Way 1,; the passing at Mr. Ernest Ems in the Prince County Hos- pml, Summerside. on Saturday, June 5. Prince County and es- pecially Tyne Valley. where he resided. has lost one of its best- i known and most highly-valued amen; -- one whom it will be difficult to replace. In April he had an attack of virus pneumonia at which time he spent about two weeks in the Tyne Valley Health Centre. This was followed by coronary throm- bosis which. after almost three week's treatment in the Prince County Hospital, proved fatal. The deceased was a son of the late William D. Ellis, and Ange- lina Glover Ellis, and was born at Bideford on Feb. ii, 1878. He was one of a family of ten and eight have predeceased him. One sister, Gertrude, Mrs. Burton Ellis lives at Everett, Mass. At me age of three years, he cam! with his family to Tyne” Valley, and there almost his entire life was spent with the exception of a few years in his early youth when he lived in Massachusetts. On Oct. 19, 1904, he married Flo- ence May MacLeod of Hunter River. and from this union were born five children, three of whom survive. - namely (Olive Isabelle) Mrs. John G. McCombe of Sault Ste., Marie, Ont., (Jean Glover), Mrs. H. Gordon Williams of St. John, N. B., and (Elfie Geraldine) Mrs. Leonard V. MacDonald of River View. N. B. Surviving also is his wife who mourns the loss of a kind and loving husband. His only son, "William Vance" died in Auugst 1914. and two years later a baby girl also passed away. Blessed with a wonderful mem- ory. he was able to recall events from childhood and being a good story-teller. was interesting com- pany for both old and young. In the realm of music he excelled. His voice was not impaired as he grew older. and in spite of ill- ness, just as long as he was able. he would be in his place in the Tyne Valley United Church choir. where his deep rich bass might be heard in all the hymns. He was also gladly welcomed in all neigh- boring choirs. He will be snuly missed, not only in his home choir, but also in two male choirs in both of which he was an en- thusiastic and much-prized mem- ber. - To any project for the better- ment and uplifting of the commu- nity he always gave willingly of his time and talents. To make an Impromptu speech, to act as chairman or auctioneer. never seemed to be a trouble to him Ind. needless to say, his services as this respect were much sought after. as he always performed tunctions of this kind in a highly creditable manner. The funeral services, which were held on June 8, and were conducted by his pastor. Rev. A. J, MacDonald, assisted by a dear friend of long standing, Rev. Thomas Wilson of Charlottetown and Rev.
