The accident occurred aiter Mr. Macoregcr had operated a rail- way switch on the branch line leading to the R.C.A.F. station at Sununerside. While standing on the first step of one of the cars or the mov- lng trelght train, his foot came in contact with an iron bar that had been carelessly left sticking in the snow near the track at some previous time. The bar was so sec- ure and unyielding that it broke a bone in Mr. MacGregor's foot, causing him to jump or fall irorn the train.
