Since them quite a number have paid and each day sees tile overdue amounts getting less. The result of the Campaign to April 30th 1924 i4 us follows: This statement is a synopsis of the amounts sent in as the Cam paign progressed, buf owing to the fact that the date for tlie first psy- nient on the pledges matured dur- ing the Campaign, the grand total of $79,003.95 will remain, unchang- ed. but the two items the cash and tlie pledges that make up the grand total will assume quite a dif- ferent complexion now. The total amount of cash receiv- ed up to April 30th was 824,495.61 of this amount the sum l have lust rend $10,067.73 was paid in by the subscribers during the Campaign leaving s balance of $14,427.88 as the amount paid in on account of the first payment due on January 15th, 1924,-and on account of sub- sequent due dates. Nothwith- standing the fact that according to the figures 1 read you n short time ago there is 3'11 amount of $2098 still remaining overdue on this first payment, it appears that up to April 30th a considerable amount has been paid over and obove the one sixth that was due at the first paying period. By referring to the total sub- scriptions just read of 879063.95 and also to the total Campaign cash of $10,067.73 and the Rena McLean amount represented by Victory Bonds of $2800.00 in all $12,867.73 and deduct this amount from the $79,063.95, you will find that there remains a balance of pledges due of $66,196.22 or about $11,000 due each paying period. We have taken in an stated before $14,427.88, and there is yet due- about $2100 on the first payment so that it is quite evident that the payments to April 30th include about $5500 of money snot yet due, which will have a tent! cy ‘l0 W‘ lduce the amounts of th v next pay- meats. Another question which might be carefully consider- ed by the subscrbierg here assemb- led, is: Is it advisable for us as shareholders in this institution to spend all this money on a building which was never adequate for the purpose. and which is situated in a locality totally unfitted in. every wsy dnduoe theinnto give to the ut- egg d ' I til ‘h’. “f-ifiii 1r: nil ~ r:- s“ ‘ ' inYO arlottetovin close. with- "WU"! .. . and over 110 co ntry district. at least. so avierwe . twenty names ‘from -eseh. ~ t 0011111111 to me that it will be one person's I _‘ v ‘to look after‘ this coileotidn. as it now appears as if each payment will overlap into the next payment, thereby making continuous attention necessary in order to finally bring it out to a successful issue, and no man or committee of meini can afford to give to this affair the time and at. tention it requires. i wish to take this opportunity on tire ‘eve of severing my conneu lion with tlie Campaign Fund as the iniitiai work la now‘ finished to thank the members of the Ladies Aid for the wonderful work they have done, not only in connection with-the (lampaign. but with every movement. for the betterment of the Hospital in all of which they have been so closely associated during tlie past fourteen: years in which l lrnve been a Trustee. l wish to express to the members of the Campaign Committee my up preciation for the greet assistance they have been during the Cam paign and it is to their excellent co operation that a great part of tlie success we met with h; attri hutable. l also wish to give credit where s great deal -of credit is certainly due‘, and 1 think 1 am voicing the sentiment; and opinions of all the Trustees when 1 do so, and that is to Mr. W.
