The Panther Prints # January 14, 1997 Sound Bites By Foreign Correspondent Lorne Caborn George Michael Older (MCA/Dreamworks) The first thing one might notice about this CD when they pick it up is that the smash hit “Fast Love” is one of the songs on it. The first thing someone listening to it would notice is that “Fast Love” is the only really good song on the CD. The other songs aren’t bad, but they are all slow and rather depressing. If you can find the “Fast Love” single, get it instead. Ice T VI Return of the Real (Virgin) Perhaps while further- ing his movie career, Ice T forgot what it was like to do a rap album. His sixth offering is a tired version of his old self, the only thing saving this CD is a couple of really hype beats. Un- fortunately, they aren’t good enough for me to recommend this CD to anyone except hard core Ice T fans. Daughters of Eve We Heard Rain (MCA) This team of singing and songwriting sisters have been working together since their teens and it shows on their debut album, We Heard Rain. Fans.of the Go-Gos and Jane Siberry will want to grab a copy of this CD before their friends beat them to the punch. Cocteau Twins Milk and Kisses (Mercury) Vive Lntertainment This trio from the UK has no true defining musi- cal category -- new-age pop is probably the best way to describe them. As far as the CD goes, it’s a lot of moody music, no real fast stuff, which is different, but still good. Fans of the Cranberries may want to spend some extra time in the record store looking for this one. Lorne Caborn is currently located in Dartmouth, NS where he is freelancing for the Panther Prints.
