Mr. Gladstone was greeted with loud and hearty cheers by the Parnellites and Radical members when he entered the House to-day. The newspapers throughout Great Britain and Ireland comment at great length on Gladstone's scheme for Irish Government. _————— DOMINION PARLIAMEN' Amendment of the Scott Act. Orrawa, April 9. The House met at 3 p. m. Mr. Jameison introduced a bill further to amend the Scott Act. He explained that the bill was nearly similar to the one introduced last session. [t was proposed that in British Columbia, where there were no county divisions, the electoral districts should be taken. An- other clause proposed that druggists could sell in quantities of less than one qnart. Half the penalty would, under the amend- ment, go to the treasury of the munici- pality, and one-half to the prosecuting officials. INSOLVENT DEBTORS. _Mr. McMullen (Middlesex) introduced a bill providing for the distribution of estates of insolvent debtors, DOMINION LANDS. Hon. Mr. White introduced a bill am- ending the Dominion Land Act of 1883. INLAND REVENUE, Hon. Mr, Costigan gave notice that on Tuesday next he would move the House into committee to consider the amend- ment of the consolidated Revenue Act. EXTENSION OF THE INTERCOLONIAL RAILWAY, On the second reading of Act respecting the extension of Intercolonial Railway to Pictou Sir Richard Cartwright and Mr. Mills attacked the expenditure as unneces- sarv, and thought the ferry good enough. Mr. Tupper explained the necessity for the railway. Mr. Davies thought the expense unneces- sary. Mr. McDougall said the Opposition say they{were not opposed to the railway, but they took a curious way of showing their anxiety to help it forward. Mr. Hackett showed that the Ontario opposition wes not fair. The C. P. R. ran a thousand miles through Ontario, which Province had on thatroad public money to the amount of over $15,000,000. Fatal Shooting. Sr. Lovis, April 9. Four deputy guards stationed at Louis- ville and Nashville yards, fired into a crowd of 300 strikers this afternoon, without any cause. Five men and one woman were shot. Three of the men were killed. All the deputies who did the shooting this after- boon Were arrested and locked up. Shooting Affray. Lirritx Rock, Ark., April 9. Forty to fifty strikers attacked the guard at the railroad yard here last night anda general shooting followed. One of the guards was fatally wounded and several strikers injured. Aquatic.
