Micuast Beocay, Thomas Duffy and Francis Began appeared at the Stipendiary Magistrate’s Court to-day on complaint of a sailor named Roderick McRae,for assault. The complainant appeared with visible marks of violence on his brow, having sev- eral large scars about his forehead. Seven witnesses were examined and a handle of a shovel—the weapon used by one _ of the assailants was produced. The evidence taken was not sufficient te convict the trio, but Michael Began, who evidently was the guilty one, was sea- tenced to one month’s imprisonment with hard labor. A.raovas Wednesday last brought with it the storm of storms, it did not prevent the Grand Division of tlris Island holding its An nual Session. On arrival of the train at Hun- ter River the delegates from this city-—eignt in number —were conveyed through the ele- ments to the beautiful village of New Glas- gow. Other delegates arrived during the morning from Park Corner, Clifton, New Annan, \Wheatly River, North Wiltshire, Caledonia, Hamilton, and at Il o'clock the Grand Division was declared opened. ‘The re- ports of officers shows that the Order enjoys continued prosperity in this Prevince.
