Mr. Dillon strongly advised the growing of fodder corn for winter feed, It would yield more and better cattie food at less cost and ess exhaustion to the soil than any other crop that could be grown. Each of the three gentlemen spoke of the good work Prof. \tobertson is doing, of bis ability and energy, and regarded him as che right man in the :ighi place. Hon. George Forbes also addressed ‘he meeting. He was interested in the movem snt directly as well as indirectly, and looked on the enterpriss with favor. He would give it material aid. He believed there would be no trouble in providing the necessary funds « nd that it would eventually prove of gencral advantage. Pownal, Gallas Point, China Point, Che -ry Vailey, Mill View, Uigg, Orwell and Veron River were well represented. A number of gentlemen spoke and all favored the uader- taking. A list was opened and over tweive hundred dollars was subscribed, with more to hear from. Wm. Pursuant to public notice a meeting was held in the Murray Harber South H:.ll, on Friday evening, October 7th, for the purpose of discussing the advisability of starting a cheese factory in the vicinity. Charies LeLacheur, Esq., having been called to the chair, opened the meeting with a few explanatory remarks and then called on Mr. Dilion and Dr. Robertson (who had been invited to attenu) to address the meeting. Mr. Bitton, the energetic manager of the New Perth Cheese Factory, was the ficst speaker. Hig speech was eminently practical, fully explaining the steps necus- sary to be taken in organizing a joint stock company—showed up the advantages of the co-operation system, and giving some excellent advice as to the care and manaye- of milch cows—showe: sumples of fodder corn grown on the Isiand and explained the kinds of feed best adapted to keep ap the flow of milk, ete. He also gave an outline of the cheese factory business frm its first start in Ontario, giving statistics to show the growth and possibilities of the business. Dr. Robertson, who evidently takes great interest in this industry, spoke on the bene fits to farmers end the profits that would result from the business. He also gave some practical advice regarding buildiag and conducting a factory. After an address from Hon. Senator Prowse and a few remarks from some of the leading farmers present, it was unanimously resolved to go on with a factory if tse quantity of milk required could be vob- isined. A committee was appvinted to canvess the district, and the mveting edjour.ed to meet again in two weeks to hear the report of the canvassing committee.—Com. a> —— PREVENTION is better than cure; and if you want to prevent many of the ills of summer get in — condition by taking an occasiova) dose of Everybody's Pills.
