A few drops wil flavor a pint of seup or broth equal to a head of celery. Corn Cakes.—-One quart of meal, four eggs, ene pintof milk, half pint of water, tablespoonful butter. Beat the eggs thoroughly, add the milk, water, stir inthe meal a little at a time, melt the butter before adding, add a little salt. [sake on a heated griddle. Very nice served with fried liver, fer break- fast. Lemon Ginger Cakes—Quarter pound of butter, one-half pound ef sugar, three ezgs, one small cup of milk, the same quautity of molasses, three and a quar- ter pouads of flour, teaspoonful of gins ger, one of cimnamon, one tablespoon- ful ef salerstus dissolved in the milk, the rind of two lemons and the juice ot ene. dake in a quick oven. Oyster Pie —Puff paste,oysters,cream butter, twe eggs, cracker crumbs, pep- per and salt. Roll eut the puff paste, aod cever the pie dish. Fill with bread- crusts, and cover with puff paste. ‘Bake till the crust is dene. Stew the oysters with the cream, butter, pepper and salt. When cone, stir in very quickly, while en the fire, the two eggs well beaten, and one tablespoonfulof cracker crumbs. Lift the top crust of the pie, empty the crusts out, peur in the oysters, cover, and serve very hot.
