These no minds, as you so affectionately called them, are two of the nicest guys around, and like anyone else have personality changes when they drink and are eas- ily provoked. In spite of our differences we con- tinue to recognize that each has the greater interests of human knowledge and the university at heart. That is a matter of professional respect. I am concerned that Dr. Rahman’s comments show a total lack of respect for Drs. Mazer and Percival. We are all obliged to crit- icize unethical practices by our colleagues notwithstand- ing personal relationships. Yet Dr. Rahman is not criticizing what was actually done as much as he is ex- pressing a dislike of what he seems to think was found. he can do little more in the way of serious criticism because presented their findings to the faculty, nor has he read their report. In spite of such little knowledge about their research, Dr. Rahman seems very intent on discrediting these colleagues. He then uses that as an excuse to discredit all forms of seek- ing knowledge by scientific means. This is not respon- sible, academic criticism nor any concern for ethics. Dr: Rahman is titled to his own distrust of science, that is a right of academic freedom. That mistrust does not entitle him to impune the character of his colleagues either for con- ducting valid research or for teaching how psychological research is done. Percival and .Mazer No special treatment for Panthers Dear Editor: This letter is in response to the letter ‘*PJavers not allowed”. First’ of ‘all 1 would like to congratulate the hockey and Basketball teams on their successful season. Now to the matter at hand. With regards the | board’s decision to not al- two members of the hockey team into the Pan- ther Lounge, I myself feel it was the proper decision. Why? Because if these in- dividuals were allowed back to ' into the Panther Lounge, it would look like the board was giving special treatment to athletes. One must not forget that these individu- als are first students, and secondly, athletes. There- fore, these individuals in the Panther Lounge, one night as well, get rid of ceriain rules that govern students’ conduct at student events. The letter in the Gem also stated that the Panther Lounge lost a lot of money because of the board’s de- cision. Indirectly, this is true. Directly this is un- true.
