During the months of May and June an experiment was carried on in Prince County in the cooperative marketing of wool. Mr. W. J. Reid. B.S.A., District Representative lind charge of the work- as . w s un iles. The grading was done under the supervision oi' Mr. Hewson of the Live Stock Branch, Department ol' Agriculture. Ottawa. Tho wool was sold to J. J. Sears of Antogonish and brought 32.03 cents per lb. SHEEP DIPPING. Sheep dipping demonstrations were ‘carried on this yeur in thos arts of ly- Cooper's Sheep Dipping Powder and the tank and outfit. as illustrated 011 D880 56 Of “Sheep Husbandry in Canada" were used. The work in King’s County was done by Mr. Will- iam Cass, and in Queen‘s County by Mr. Leo McDonald. in all 7,137 sheep were dipped. ' LIVE STOCK JUDGING CLASSES. Live stock judging classes were held in nine different sections of the province during the moiitllsof Juno and July. They wwere all liirgoly nt- teiidcd. The judging oi' mittlo was thc most important work done, but hm-sos uiiil sheep were also brought out. DRAINAGE. 7 _, _ _,_ A .succession of wot scnsons has brought the problem of drainage to the attention oi the Department of Ag- riculture. In»Prince County particu- larly the loss has been fairly heavy. As tile are not manufactured in this province and excessive freight renders the bringing of them from other parts impracticable_ beds of c lay suitable for the manufacture of tile have been located and some organization work done. By way of demonstration a field near Wellington has been under- drained. l WOMEN'S INSTITUTES. Patriotic work has been occupying the attention of the seven hundred members of the women’s institutes during the past year. Upwards of $_20'0 in cash has been given to the Belgian relief fund, together with a large a~ mount of clothing, knitting and food supplies. Over $1,700 i n cash has. been donated to the Red Cross society, also large contributions of sox. shirts, caps. and bandages. This is in .ad- dition to the work be- ing carried on by these same women through other or- ganizations and does not represent the full amount of gifts from these women. Al: present tho institutes are busying themselves preparing Christmas gifts for the soldiers at the front. ____ _ *ir SCHOOL CH|LDREN’S WORK. Aii important feature of the fair held in Sourls, P. E. I., on October 4th and 5th, 1915, was an exhibit of school children’s work, collected from the schools in the neighbouring districts. These exhibits consisted of vegetables grown in school gardens and home plots, collections oi pressed weeds. collections of weed seeds, drawings, compositions, maps, muscular move- ment exercises, etc. The exhibit :is tl. whole was a creditable one, uno many of the 'individual exullrts showed that the boys and girls who had made them had taken rare io dc their best.
