In a group of visitors being shown through the famous Carlsbad Caverns in New Mex- ico, was a boy eleven years old and his little sister age 7. When they came to the deep- est part of the cavern, the lights were turned out and so great was the darkness that the little girl began to cry. Bravely the boy put his arm around the shoulder of his young sister and reassured her saying, “Don’t you cry. There’s a man here who knows how to turn the lights on.” That has been the word of faith in all the centuries. It is the good news of God for the darkest days of our lives. There is One, even Christ, who through his resurrection has turned on the light which even the d rkness of death cannot put out. ‘The mission of the Bible So- ciety is to carry that light- through His word-—to men in darkness everywhere. To date it has translated and distribut- ed the Scriptures in more than 1100 languages and dialects. But today it is faced with an unprecedented demand, and this in the face of rising costs. This means that more than ever our support is needed. We can contribute through one of the many branches, scattered about the Island and we also help when we make a purchase at The Bible House . in Charlottetown.
