(Wm. _A. McDonald. who not ions since returned from 'having spent two years overseas. McDonald, Supt. of the Faiconwood Farm, served four years overseas and grandson Grant McCallum spent three Years at the -front .and it will be re- membered by some no doubt, too. how that in 1915 Miss Agnes .McDonald, matron of one of the hospitals in New Yory City volunteered -tor service in France and 'when waiting for an ap- pointmen-t Miss McDonald was drown- ed in Providence, R. -I. while out can- l oeing. Mr. and \Mrs. McDonald had the sympathy of the -whole country- side in the time ot their great sorrow. Although their days of sorrow and ot anxiety because of the war have been many the splendid record of their family .must now he a great source of comfort to them and -be- fcause of tfhis splendid record they are ' open to 'hearty congratulations. Lieut. Wm. A. McDonald enlisted . with the Canadian `Rail\vay’1‘roops and during the t-wo years in France the work done by him was ‘of a vet-y high order. Before enlisting Mr. lMcDon- ald was -for several years Supt. lor O"Brien .Falwler and McDou-gall, one of the leading railway contracting companies of Canada. Hin many friends were delighted to have him back again and a large nunpber of them took theopportunity of nailing - upon him at his home on the above ~ mentioned date and 'presenting him with an address and a 'penkuife -with the 'masonic emblem ibeautifully en- graved on the handle. The .address was read ‘by Rev. R. H. .Stavert and the presentation was made by Dan M.MoLeod of Hunter River. Although taken very much by surprise Lleut.- MoDonaid .made n very fitting reply and thanked his ‘friends for their kind- ness and their thoughtfulness.
