The VPC will also be the link between UPEI Student Services and the Student Union. Writing press releases, letters, and reports from the SU will be expected as well. After spending some very rewarding and enlightening time away from the Island I have returned to UPEI to acquire my _ bach- elors degree, in preparation for a Masters degree in Eco- nomics (hopefully at Queens or McMaster University in Ontario). That’s enough about me for the moment. Let me tell you something about the VP Communications (VPC) position; and why I ask for Ian Wood your mandate to take on this position as best I can. First, in as simple a manner as possible, let me tell you just what I’m running for. The following report is taken di- rectly from the Report of the VPC Review Committee: “The general goal of cre- ating a VPC is to establish a much greater knowledge on and off campus regarding all aspects of the Student Union. Kent Ford and I am a candidate for the recently created Student Union Executive position of Vice President Communi- cations. The office of VPC performs a wide variety of communications functions between various outside bod- ies and the UPEI Student . Union. As anewly created office, it will require an individual with a strong working knowl- edge of the university and the student’ population to firmly establish its position and make its’ presence felt. As a Junior in Political Studies and a person who has a good deal on council what they’re up to. In the. past I have attended and reported on the events at many SU meetings for the newspaper and am very familiar with what goes on at them. Beside newspaper work, Kent Ford of experience in university activities, ranging from be- ing vice-chairman of Le Club Politique to participating in sports, I. feel can offer both intramural confident I experience in and knowledge of the university community. In addition to my on- campus experience in pub- lic relations, I have exten- sive job-related knowledge of what is required of the VPC through my employment as a sales representative for local firms. > My are a major asset because it studies in politics has given me a strong un- derstanding of group-related work and channeling that work through mediums of communication. last summer I wrote a book for the UPEI Computer Centre describing a typeset- ting program available the VAX computer and also typeset the VAX User Guide.
