The shearing demonstrations were given by Mr. James Mundy of the Canada Department of Agriculture and assisted by Mr. Bob Pierce of the Provincial De- partment of Agriculture. This is the first short course of this kind held on the Island, and has been highly successful in teaching some of the Junior sheep breeders the latest methods in shearing and packaging of wool. She was 74 years of age. The late Mrs. Matthew had been born in Sum- merside in the home on Water Street East. in which she was liv- ing at the time of her death. Apart from 15 years in 0'Leary. all her life had been spent here. g She had been in failing health for the past two years. but her condition became more serious about two months ago and three weeks ago she entered the hos- to She was the former Lucy Mae Glover. a daughter of the late Thomas Cairns Glover and his wife, Hannah Watters. She is sur- Dolly and one son Thomas. both at home. Four children predeceas- ed her. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. While living in O'&ary. Mrs. Matthew was active in many com- munity movements and played the organ for both the Presbyterian and United Church services. After returning to Summerside she was an active member of the Ladies Aid of the Presbyterian Church and of the Readis Corner Women's Institute. In more recent years her health caused her to give up these activities. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew were married fifty-two years ago on August 14th last. The funeral was held from her late residence on Tuesday after- noon with service at 2:00 p.n1. conducted by Rev. J. Donald Mac- Kay. Interment was in the Peo- ple's Cemetery.
