A. rumor is current that the Dominion .|Government and the C. P. R. are at logger heads, over arrangements with the I. C. R. It is charged that the Government has broken an agreement as to running powers over the 1. C. R., and if the difficulty is nut removed the C. P. R. will make a terminus at St. John. Another rumor is that the C. P. R. are considering the propriety of making St. Andrews their Atlantic port. That their is some difficulty with the Government is believed in well informed circles, but the rumor about St. Andrews is not credited. ——— The French Elections. Lonvon, Sept. 23. The Paris correspondent of the Times says the elections resulted in a crushing defeat-for the Boulangists, who returned only 21 members, and whose entire repre- sentation in the new Chamber will not exceed 36. The Conservatives elected 131, and will get 30 more. The Republicans returned 218 and will get 100 more. A Big Crash. Cuicaco, Sept. 23. The Mammoth Publishing House of Balford Clarke & Co., a large establishment here, with branches in New York and San Francisco, went to the wall to-day. The receiver says the assets will be about $400,- 000, and liabilities about $350,000, Has Cholera on Board. Orrawa, Sept. 23.
