The Chief Com- missioner, who with his four col- leagues spent a quiet weekend here before leaving for the Maritime Provinces, received newspapermen for a. few minutes this evening in his private car. the Commission to consider the financial problems of Canada after close contact with many of those directly interested. He had been impressed with the diversity of Canada, both in respect to the nature of the country and also in regard to the nature of the financial problems which should be solved. The Commission must turn its attention to the question of whether or not the present banking and financial system was adequate to the needs of the country, and, if not what changes were required. He did not think that the solution of Canada's problems lay in the small bank. The large banks of Canada had stood up admirably through the years of depression, in contrast to what had occurred south of the line where failures were num- erous. CORNWALL-YORK POINT W. I.
