Lodge cele brated Christmas eve in a good old fashioned manner. The Hall was beautifully decorated everything was in splendid array. The Lodge was opened in the usual form by the C.’l`. the business of the evening was then hurried through. After which s short but interesting program was rendered. Then foilow,ed the most appropriate of all, a. most magnificent table was set by the Sisters. Everything was beau- tifully arranged on it before the cur- tain was drawn aside and it was a beautiful sight. All joined hands and sat down together feeling that it was good to be there. After everyone had done justice the C. T., announced that the celebration would close with the singing of the Closing Ode after which the C. On board the S. S. Lapland. Dear Father, Mother and Sisters.- Wcll here we are in mid ocean, so l will start a letter and finish it when I get across. We left Halifax Sunday morning at 'I a. 1_n. Came aboard Sat- urday at noon. From 11 a. m. Saturday until 5 there was a steady single illc of troops boarding the ship. about 3000 strong. About 7 p. m. ilve or six tug- bonts took the big ship out in the har- morning. We had great weather until yesterday, had quite a little blow and the most of the boys are sick, am glad to say I wasu'\ and feel fine so fer. Poor Harry is very had, basn’t eaten anything since we' started. This is quite a ship, over 000 feet long but large as she is the seas here will rock her like a row boat. We are passing the gulf-stream today, and it is quite wuml. We do nothing but physical drill every morning and only one- fourth of the men show up on account of seasickness.
