' The sleek little pacer driven by Harvey Oormier broke his old record of 2.09 2!!) in both lieats in the thrilling battles beiore nearly 3.000 roaring fans at the Char- lottetown track. The Pointer paced the ills: mile in 2.07 H5 and came back in the second heat to lower his newly made mark by 475 oi a second. It was the fastest mile paced or trotted here since Old Home week when McKylo Cash went under the wire in 2.06 W5. Although there were sci-vii, liar- as: in the race it was strictly a two"-horse battle. Both races lol- lowed nearly the same pattern with Cheeky Chic! leading to the stretch and the Pointer coming up on the outside to go under the wire a quutor or a length ahead. The two horses were down to the quarter is 29 375 seconds in the tint heat with Cheeky Chief on the inside and the Pain r be- side him. Cheeky Chief was ahead at the hall and remained there iintll half way down the home stretch. The Chief was away again in the second heat and down to the hall in 1.02. But again the Pointer came on in the stretch to take the top honors. There were other great races and breath-taking drives in the ten-dash card. Little Rosalie Hoop- er came irom sixth place in the Junior tree for all to take over the trip spot at the hall. Col. Looker was leading at the three quarter pole but the Hooper mare came back again to win in a stretch drive. The meet was earmarked tier upsets and thrills from the first event on when Charlie Willis drove Joandale to win over Mill- dale. A long shot. Joandale paid 550.00 at the parl-mutucls. Then Lela Budlong came through in the stretch to beat out the lav- orites. Lela went. away on the pole and led the ile1d'all the way. Lucky Number came up with another of his great stretcli drives to win the filth race. a dash for pacers.
