_MURDER OF NOTED
ITALIAN BAD MAN
NEW YORK, Dec. 16.-Amelio
Prince. said by the police to be the
notorious black hand leader, was
shot and killed to-day, in a bakery,
lin Upper New York. According to
the story told the police by the em-
ployes of the shop, he had just de-
manded $100 oi Joseph Gallucci,
`mainager, when he ‘was shot by Gal-
lucci's nephew, who escaped.
The police say that Prince has four
times been under suspicion for having
‘done murder. In each case, the po
lice found witnesses by whom they
expected to send Prince to the Elec-
tric chair, but when the Grand Juri
was ready to hear' the evidences, the
witnesses were strangely missing, the
police believe that several of them
were murdered.
Prince’a name had long bee-:i a by-
word in the Italian colony. -If chil-
dren were naughty, parents were ac-
customed to warn them that Prince
would bo called in.
