According to the New York re- port the French crew sought to scuttle the Pasteur, third largest liner in the French merchant ma- rine, last Thursday night but were thwarted by British authorities. A party of armed Britons, it was reported in New York, boarded the liner in time to close the sea cocks through which water was entering the holds.
