r . THE UPEI SUN,Thursday,April 19,1979,age 1* e 0 ltOfIO ; This is the last editicn of the UPEI SUN for the year '78—'79 which means this is the last editorial. No more Wednesday nights fussing and fuming and pleading with my staff. "Doesn't anyone have . film they want to say thisweek?" Writing editorials was by far the hardest job of being editor. I feel carpelled to say something on the student tumout for the general meeting of the UPEISU. It's not eleven students who are the Student union, it's over thirteen hundred. Doesn't it bother you at all that you pay $45 Student Union fees and don't care in the least what's done with it? Surely you must have something to say - groan, praise or crnpfladn about. It's you people who have the power to change things if you wish satething to be changed. Eleven students turned out for that meeting, 5 executive members, 5 councillors and me student who had seen a sign in the Library and had.ccne ower to Duffy. Personally, I felt the lack of a turnout to be very discouraging. I hope that students next year will support their Union by doing more than attending Pig 'n Whistles. ' As this is our last issue, there are many people who I and the SUN staff wish to thank. The staff of the SUN this year has been excellent. 'Ihe same people have turned up every week to help out with the issues and their dedication is ever so much appreciated. Tb John, Maureen Murray, Pat, lee, Gerald, Maureen McCabe, Nora and Kevin (with his weekly delivery to Summerside). I thank you all so mudu. Your time, especially on those 4 o'clodt mornings, has been terrific. Besides this group of workers there have been other whose contributions to the SUN must be noted. They are Mickey Place, Joanne Peters, John Neville, George Wallace, Laurie Tierney, Rita Pendergast, Gus Gaudet, Anne MacEwen, Vince Mulligan, John Campbell, Derwin "Satdi". Banks, Claire Nantes, Stephen St. Vincent, Val Monsour, Barry Chandler, Mark IedWell, Kate O'Connell and our writers in "letters to the Editor". Thanks so much. Our publisher, the Journal—Pioneer in Summer- side must be thanked. 'lhey have been very understanding and always willing to do the best they can for our paper. 'Ihey have giver. us excellent service for vmich we thank them. Our local advertisers — Jims, Cascade, Nortons, IePages, Page One and Bike Shop and Sport Lodge, have helped finance the SW. Without them we couldn't have started our publications; Student Union executive '78—'79 has been very cooperative with both. last tenn's editor, Gerald, and myself. I guess they knew better than to get in the way!!! Special thanks go to the readers. It's very rewarding on a Thursday afternoon in the library to watch the SUNS get picked up and read - even while you‘re still holding the bundles in your arms. . We'hope you have enjoyed reading them as much as we have in doing them. Best of luCk to next year's editor whoever he/ she may be. Hope all goes well with you. We wish everyone well in their finals and goodluck with summer jobs. And please don't for-— gEt to VOTE on ELECTICBIEEK, APRIL 23rd. There have been a number of extremely hard working individuals who, by their support, have put the Exchange (11 the road to success. The setting up and cleaning up as well as duties— during the coffee house V were carried out by Kathy Fraser, Joan MacQuarrie, Gordon Lavoie, Eager Speaking of next fall, the Exchange will begin the first week of classes (Orientation Week) so I hope those who didn't make it down to the coffee house because they were too busy, will take sometime — even, if it's just an hour -'-.+ to drop in.
