OrTawa, Aug. 13. In the Tarte-McGreevy case Sir Hector stood an excellent cross-examination. He replied very satisfactorily to every question. Atan early stage Geoffrien, Tarte’s lawyer abandoned the cross-examination, which was continued by Davies, and there were numerous expressions of dissatisfaction by the committee as to his manner of conducting it. Great interest has been awakened in Eng- land about the matter in consequence of the false representations which have been cabled ty the press there. The London Times cabled for a full report of Sir Hector’s state ment, and the Imperial Government has cabled the Governoi-General for the same information. The popular feeling is that Sir Hector has fully established his innocence of the charges against him aud “has cleared himself of the slightest suspicion of incapacity or wrong doing. anesthe RDN aac BAY CHALEUR INVESTIGATION Some Sensational Evidence. Armstrong’s examination will be con- tinued to-day. Grit stock has gone down with a rush.
