If the water had been rough or they had been unable to climb back on the wharf there might easily have been 3 tragic ending to the story. MclVl1lt Klnkora Parish lost om of its oldest residents by the death on Tuesday. April 11. im. of Mr. Hugh L. Mlulver at the age of eighty- eight years. Living all his life in Newton School District. Mr. Mc- Iver through his industry and ef- flciency became not only the oper- otor of a thriving farming business but also a capable carpenter and builder, and even at his advanced age he was still able to carry on this work. He married Caroline Mcculgan. who survives him. and their home was always one of a happy family spreading its own cheer among the members of the community. Mr. MoIver'a love of reading enabled him to become a very mwresting convcrsationallst, and his wide cir- cle of friends will recall many pleasant hours spent in his com- pany. Active and interested up to the time of his brief illness of three weeks. Mr. Mclver never seemed to grow old. and he will therefore be missed the more by his family. his grandchildren, of whom he was so land. and the whole com- munity. Two sons, Charles, and at.
