Watkis presided at . the piano throughout. ' After refreshments had been servcil a number of speeches. recitatioiis, etc., were enjoyed. The evening was most pleasantly spent and the an- niversary is one which should be even more generally observed. Paardeberg Day made history for Canada and Canadians and its inerti- ory is deserving of perpetuation. There is perhaps no better way for the commemoration of the bravery of Canadian and P_ Island heroes of that great battle than by a gather- ing of the veterans and their com- rades on the date of each anniver- versary. Hubert McQuaid,. brother of the hride, acted in the ca- pacity of groomsmen. As the happy couple. left _the church amid showers of rice and confetti, they were follow- ed by the good wishes of hosts of friends who had assembled to witness the ceremony. They drove to thc ie~ sidence of Patrick McKenna, South Melville, where Mrs. McKenna, i-iii-ter of the groom, gracefully presided as hostess at a delicious wedding break- fast. In the evening a large number of friends and associates of both par- ties assembled at the home of the britie's parents, where Mr. and Mrs. McQtiaid dispensed their hospitality in a very kind ' anti genial manner. Songs were contributed by various members of the assemblage while ex- cellent violiit music was furnished by Francis I.. Trainor of Kelly’s Cross, Fred Duusford, South Melville, and Wilbert Lawless of Norboro.
