The opening worship for the evening meeting was led by Mr. Christie. The Rev. W. G. Killam explained the work of the M. R. E. C. and asked for support for it. Mr. Christie showed a film strip. "The Story of Our Bible". and followed this with a true or false quiz and a short discussion. The nominating committee pre- sented the slate of new officers as follows: President. Mrs. Raymond Wood: vice-president. Mrs. John Hulam: secretary-treasurer, Florence Mab- ey; assistant secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Elmer Gamble. Miss Louise Callback gave the report of the courtesy committee: "Resolved that the thanks of this convention be extended to Rev. Mr. Christie, for his fine leader- ship; to Rev. Mr. Britten and Rev. Mr. Crowe for their helpful mes- sages; to Rev. Mr. Kilian and the people of the Tryon Baptist Church for the use of tlkir building and their hospitality; and to all oth- ers who added to the effective- ness of the convention." Mr. Crowe then gave an inspir- ing and scholarly address, his subject being ”How we got our English Bible", with special refer- ence to the Revised Standard Ver- sion.
