“llay of Hope Women’s institute,"
Murray River held their monthly
meeting at the home.of the President.
Mrs. Alfred Harty, on Tuesday, Dec.
l14. lt was decided that the Institute
and Red Cross Society unite under the
name of the Women's Institute for the
winter months. Arrangements were
made to collect and knlt_Socks for
Major Ing’s regiment. Miss MacFar-
lane was present and gave a demon-
stration on "Home Nursing." the
next meeting will be held at the home
of Mrs. Philip Lowe on Friday. Janu-
ary 21. At the close of the meeting
TION.-Last Friday night, the 10th
show in the Montague Auditorium. a.
dance was given by the young people
of Montague in honour of Mr Herbert
Poole. son of Mr W. L. Poole. who had
enlisted for overseas service wltli one
ofthe Medical Corps now stationed at
Halifax. ln the course of an exceed-
ingly enjoyable hour. Mr Poole was
presented with a purse of gold and a
happily worded address on behalf of
the Hockey Club, of which he was a
member, expressing the admiration of
his friends on his venture and their
best wishes for his future. Mr Poole
loft last Monday for Halifax.-B.
