Again a very successful performance was given, the large audience, who no doubt included many who had attend- ed the first night, being highly ede- lighted with the excellent entertain- ment provided for them. While as for the beautiful and beautifully dressed performers, -children and grown-ups, they quite surpassed themselve in their charming and graceful dances and their splendid songs and chor- uses. Miss Bartlett once more dis- chargedthe duties of sole accompan- ist, and added to the successs of dance and song by her sympathetic and excellent aécompaniments. Another scene of enthusiasm was witnessed when the voting took place to decide the best group of dancers for the evening. The number of votes polled far exceeded thlat of the prev- iolls night, and this amount realized therefrom was cdnsequently consider- ably greater than cm the first night. The amount realized last night was no less than $250.90, while on the previous night it was $153, making a total for the two performances of $403.90. which, as announced by the promoter, Mr. Lynwood, is all to go to the charities which are to benefit from thc Kirmcss. On last nlght’s voting the children were the best dancers, 1,231 votes being recorded for them, 180 votes more than their nearest rivals, the Roumanlans; next in order being this Carmen group, the Spanish dancers, the Bohemians, the Summer Boys and Girls and then the Japs. There will be matinee performance of the Kir- mcss this afternoon; commencing at 3.30 o'c1ock. The price of the seats in the lower floor is 50 cents; and of those in the balcony, 25 cents. 2,000 YEARS LOST ANNUALLY. OTTAWA, December 18-An aver- age money loss of $1,500,000, is caused to Canada by strikes and lockouts, according to the annual re- port of the department of labor, just issued. A review of all strikes and lockouts from 1901 down to 1913, made by the department, shows that during these twelve years there were 1,319 strikes and lockouts, involving in all 319,880 men, and eutailing u loss of working time for the whole period of slightly under 9,000,000 days, or an average annual loss of 750,000 days. Thus, somewhat para- doxically about 2,000 years of work- ing time are lost during every calen- dar year by labor disturbances. Plac- ing on the working day the low money value of two dollars the time losses for the twelve years, represent about eighteen million dollars-a mil- lion and a half yearly. There were 150 strikes and lock- nnts last year as -against 99 for 1911, but the actual time loss was only fifty per cent. of that of the previous year. _ al Tuesday. on. OTTAWA, Dec. 19-Hon. T. The athletic situation during 1013 was reviewed by the Secretary and in a full and complete statement the Treasurer showed the financial 4U pn tisfactory and considering the acti- ity of thlls Association in the diflcr ` elif; branches of sport, it showed good management of the funds. Considerable feeling was shown it a meeting of the Toronto circle last night. A number of members sx- pressed the opinion that they might as well drop out now as increasing rates would drive them out. It was _strongly urged, however, to walt un- til March when the Supreme Lodge meets and plans will be advanced putting the organization on a better basis. It is alleged that there is to be a general increase in rates of mem- i bers who have been paying an assess- ment of $8 per year will now pay as high in some cases as $38.40. The head ollice of the Home Circles ad- mits there is to be s. general advance in rates. The order has 2,000 mem- bers in all parts of Canada.
