Haywoop, Colenel commanding warines from Key West to Washington, DC,US A. There is every indication that this letter was not written by Co! Haywrod, but may have been authorized by bim. In the first place it is not written on paper heariog the official stamp of the navy, apd althou; gh fairly well written | and in a legible hand, its phraseology aud geveral makeup does not indicate its coming from one of the wir at offic -ra cf | the U. 3. service. The paper on which it is written is of emall size, embellished with gilt scroll work. It was evidently written by young Dunphy or acompanion to apprise his aunt of the fact that he had shipped. His reference to his burial indicates that be hada premonition of his imperding fate should he Jand on Spanieh soil. His sister, Miss Jesephiue Dunphy, to whom be refers, ia the wearest surviving relative, andaresilent of Souris, P. E. Island. Young Dunphy comes of unquenchable fighting stock and his reference to his possible burial is very significant. 4e isa sample of the many fisherman who have recently been recruited for the navy from this port.
