' p numb., Tw., _ Rules, Conditions and General information ofthe Contest READ CAREFULLY Any woman resident of one of the districts named who is of good character and between the ages of fourteen and forty-fi ve whether married or single, is eligible to compete, provided thé conditions set forth below are complied with: Candidates may be nominated in the regular way or they may nominate themselves, either by the enrollment coupon or letter _or they can be nominated by a friend. All nominations must be accompanied by the proper home address of the candidate. No employee of The Charlottetown Guardian, nor member of his or her immediate family may become a candidate. The Contest Department reserves the right to' reject any candidate or contestant it may consider undesirable, without giv- ing a reason for doing so. , The balloting will be by means of single ballots, which will be published in all issues from The Guardian, and renewals and new subscribers to,The Morning Daily, Rural Daily and Satur- day Guardian will carry votes according to the accompanying schedule of votes. Votes cannot be purchased. All money must be accompanied by subscriptions and the names of subscribers must accompany remittances. Votes will not be issued for a subscription less than One Dollar. All votes issued on subscriptions are good until the end of the contest, and may be polled at the discretion of the candidate or the subscriber. v All coupons will be kept for the inspection of contestant at any time during life of contest. Single ballots (those printed in thcf paper) must be polled within the time limit printed thereon. Votes will be allowed on subscriptions secured anywhere. Votes once cast cannot be changed to count for another candidate. Candidates will be divided into districts according to their place of residence, but they nuy secure ballots and subscriptions anywhere. READ OVER THAT SECTION RELATING TO DIS- TRICTS; DETERMINE WHICH ONE YOU ARE IN AND SEND YOUR NAME AND ADDRESS 'l`O THE CONTEST MANAGER. A candidate cannot remove from one district to another and retain the votes to her credit in the former district. Districts showing little or no activity may be cancelled at the discretion of the Contest Manager, and his decision will be Hnal and conclusive. In case of a tie in any separate district those tieing will each receive the district prize. A board of three responsible business men will have exclu- sive control ofthe ballot box the last day of the contest, and make the announcement of the result of that day’s voting and declare the winners. A list of candidates and their number of votes will be pub- lished during the contest. No promise or agreemut, either written or verbal, made by agents, solicitors, or canvassers, beyond those stated above, will be recognized by The Charlottetown Guardian. District No.'1`hrce---Includes all the villages and Post Oficcs in Prince and King’s Counties except those included in District No. one. ’I‘he ladies receiving the highest vote in their respective dis- trict will be awarded a$5oo.oo Upright Willis Piano, Louis XV design, Mahogany finish. The lady polling the highest vote irrespective of district,after the district prizes have been awarded, will also receive a $5oo.oo Upright Willis Piano, Louis XV design, Mahogany finish. The two beautiful organs. valued at $t5o.oo each will be awarded to the two cancliates polling the second largest number of votes in their respective district where but one Piano has been won. > It is distinctly understood that each district will he awarded two prizes. it is further understood that each district will ‘bo awarded one of the Pianos, and the fourth Piano goes to the highest "candidate after the district Pianos are won.
