And if the Ken- sington team wins. we're going to climb up on one of the rafters to get out M the way of those delir- ioua,‘~\ joy-stampeded, unbranded mavericks of the hockey corral. who back their teams to the limit. There. we're glad we got that said before we bump. into Art Larkln. one of Kensington's most Play-on games are the slit of the day. The O'Leary Midgets will soon be taking on the Sum- merside KIdKnid'§€S for the cham- pionship of Prince County. The winner of this series will prob- ably have to play Charlottetown for the Island title. The Ken- sington and Summeraide\juven- iles will probably fight it out for Prince County honors with odds on Kensington to win this round, and the winner will try conclus- ions with the smooth Abegweit team from_ Charlottetown. We would be inclined to give the Abbies a very slight edge on this series, but think the Kensing- ion lads might come through. We were rather surprised to notice that a Kensington hockey fan got rather UIPSCI. because the Charlottetown scribe referred to Kensington‘s 7 to 4 win over the Abbies as an "upset" victory. Per- sonally. if we were coaching or even backing a team. we'd be tickled pink every time a morts writer called a win by our team an “upsei" victory. Scoring “up- set" victories is what adds spice and thrills to all kinds of compe- titive sporis. If our team is ex- pected to win and , does, well, that‘: good. but not very excit- ing. Iit's when the underdog snarls his way to an “upsei." vic- tory that we really get a thrill. Furthermore. Kensingion lads’ 'l to 4 win over the Albegwelis was an upset victory. Kenslng- ion did not have ice until well into the second week in January. while the juveni-le Arbbies were skating and practising hockey long before Christmas. Kensing- ton had very few boys to pick from as compared to the Abeg- weits who had a much larger group from which to choose their team. The Abbies have been hailed as the sirongut juvenile team to come out of Charlotte- town in some years and we be- lieve they are. Yet. in spite of all this, those chipper young ‘sprouts from Kensington proceed to beat the Charlottetown blue-bloods by a margin of three goals! Upset victory? We'll say it was. and how the Kensington hockey fans, a’ dyed-in-the-wool. rip- snortln' band of hockey enthus- iasts when they get something to cheer about. must have loved ltl When the Abbies play in Ken- sington Rink again, we want to CAMEO Theatre Friday: 1:45.
