Z ` '-'-_/‘°--- The fourth asll-ual Silver Black- Fox Show, in connection with t'he Royal Winter -Fair, Toronto, was an outstandi-ng success, every inch of space was occupied. and some several hundred entries had to .be declined on account of the lack of room. Entries -were received from near- ly all the provinces of the Domin- ion, but. as usual Prince Edward island. and particularly Summer- sido, had the majority of foxes. 'i‘he iioxes were placed on exhi- bl-tlon on -November 12, but judging did not start until November 16. in the meantime the claslfication committee, consisting of hir. W. S. Grant. (chairman) Charlottetown; Mr, Si-m Coil, Bridgetown. Ontario; and Mr. George McCallum. Sum- merside, were very 'busy 'placing the animlals in their correct cate- gories, such as black, dark silver, medium silver. and pale silver. This was considerable of a job and showed the necessity of another class being added. In future it is probable that tive classes will be on the program. » The showing of foxes was excel- lent. particularly in the adult clas- ses, and some idea of the keen com- petition may be gained from the fact that in the medium silver -male class there were forty seven exhibits. Un the other hand sover- al of the classes were quite small particularly the black and dark silver pup classes. ‘A feature that was pleasing to the .Prince Edward Islanders. :ind must have been also to the Ontario fox breeders, _was the §a_e_t_thn_t Ontario succeeded in capturing a number of prises. As usual, however, the bulk of the awards. including the two world‘s dhaimplnnships. came to Prince Edward island, the home of the silver fox. therein proving that we still retain; our ability to dominate the show ring. it may be said here that it is to the benoilt of every island fox breed er -to have exhibits made from tihis -Province at the Royal Winter Fair, and great credit is d-ue the -gentle- men who successfully upheld our 'reputation th-is year and in years past. As mentioned before, Sum- merside contributed the l.'u'gest quo ta from this Province, and to the exhibitors from that town the lion‘s share of the honors fell, and they have to he heartily congratu- lated for the good work done, Col. We take opportunity here to men- tion the excellent work of the shcw committee of the Canuiliun Nation- al Fox Breeders' Association, who had all 'the details in connection with the Show no handle, und who deserve the fullest inensure of praise for their splendid arrange- ment and unselfish work.
