     MEETINGS are held on the first Tuesday of the month (except June, July, August, 
     
     and September) at 7:30 p.m. at the Farm Centre on University Avenue,

     MEMBERSHIP is open to anyone interested in the natural history of Prince Edward 
     
     Island. Membership is available at any meeting or by contacting Dan McAskill,

     membership rates are: single - $4; family - $5. Renewals are due in January.

     The Natural History Society is an affiliate of the Canadian Nature Federation

     The Belted Kingfisher is an unusual overwinter resident of Prince Edward 
     
     Island. This year several kingfishers were seen during the Montague Christmas 
     
     Bird Count. The Belted Kingfisher nests in burrows excavated in banks. If you 
     
     see a kingfisher carrying food into a quarry or bank area during May or June, 
     
     watch it closely and see if you can confirm nesting. If you do, let Rosemary 
     
     Curley know so it can be confirmed for that square in the Atlas.
