Declines were on a. somewhat broader front than in the previous session, with average declines great- er, but shares changing hands were over 1.000.000 less than on Monday. The_Associated Press average of 00 stocks lost .0 of a point, at 54.5. The 30 industria-ls lead t_hc down- ward procession with a drop of 1.4 points at 73-0, while the 15 rails lost. only .3 of. a. point. and the" utility division .6 of a point. . Periods of pressure during the day's dealings found‘ the market showing a tendency to slow up per- ceptibly. Turnover in teh stock ex- change was 2,363,510 shares. ' The same cautious attitude was apparent in the bond market as in equities. Secondard corporate class- ifications mostly gave a little ground and there appeared to_ be some shifting of funds into higher grade loans, a number of which showed modest gains. U. S. Government obligations were unchanged to 5-32 of a point lower in very quiet deal- ings as the market awaited the an- nouncement of the terms of the forthcoming financing. Eastman Kodak was one of the widest losers of the day, down 4 points at 100%, and Case lost nearly as much at 99%, others with de- clincs of major fractions. to around 2 points including Westinghouse at 911A, American can at 140%. Amer- ican Smelting at 59% and Northern Pacific at 221i. In the Canadian list Distillers- Seagrams dropped more than a. point. Losses of fractional scope occurred in sucnissues as Canad- ian Pacific, International Nickel, McIntyre-Porcupine, Canadian Mar- coni, Lake Shore and International Hydro-Electric Preferred. Hiram Walker, Holiinger and Imperial Oil of Canada were slightly higher. M T’L. CURB (Supplied hy Pltfleld nnd Company Member: of illuntrcnl stuck exciiullgc) S . . . . . . . ..
