My name is Clare Henderson. I am from a town in Labrador called Happy Valley-Goose Bay. I'm going into my fourth year here at UPEI and it's really kind of sad how much I love it here. I've been working with the Student Union for three years and I really think that it is a great way to get involved on campus. It’s amazing how quickly the school year creeps up , on you. I’ve been working for the summer at the SU and it only feels like yesterday I was writing finals. That being said, this was an extremely pro- ductive summer and the year seems to be follow- ing suit. This summer the SU negotiated with the University and CARI for student access and redid our website. And these are only two of the big things that have happened, although we are fol- lowing a number of issues and I now have new appreciation for the words "committee" and "meet- ing.” And the year is only beginning. As exciting as I think meetings and committees are, I hope that you are looking forward to the events and services that you can take advantage of as a member of the UPEI Student Union. Come out to our events, join a society, talk to your councillors. In fact, they all have blogs on the new website so you can find it even easier to get in touch with them. I’m in the office 25 hours a week, but unofficially I nearly live here, so stop by some time to chat. And remember, if you have any concerns, big or small, come talk to me-it’s what I’m here for. So good luck in all your classes (University is about learn- ing after all) but don’t forget to have a good time. My name is Mark O’Halloran, I am a third year Business stu- dent and am your Executive Vice-President for the 2004/2005 academic year. During September and part of October, I was around handing out some of the new Student Survival Guides. If you did not receive one yet, please feel free to stop by and pick one up. Also, take a look at our new and improved website (www.upeisu.com) if you would like to see what else is coming up throughout the year. In the up-coming months, I will be working on a new International Student Buddy Program, pro- moting healthy and active living, and of coarse ris- ing tuition costs. Within the next several weeks, Clare and I, hope to arrange a meeting with the Honorable Mildred Dover, to discuss this serious issue. So, good luck everybody with your midterms or papers and if you ever get stuck just drop the ham- mer, give’r and get out of that slump.
