Marketing Report The production oi eggs in Prince Edward Island although consider- ed high ior the season oi the year, is 10 per cent lower than for the same period last year, reports Mr. l‘. M. Nash, supervising poultry products inspector. If present rate oi production continues, it will not be long until this deiicit is equalled and surpassed. The qual- ity oi the product is good and ii cared for, graded properly. moved to market regularly, should be a product excelled by no other pack. The market has developed a weaker tone due to increasing supplies oi eggs arriving on Marl- tirne markets. As supplies oi pullet eggs increase. producers can ex- pect lower prices. Prices have been shaded slightly this week. Producers are receiving for un- graded eggs from operators oi grading stations AL- 55-7. AM 53-5. AP 35-8, B 36-9. C 24-6. Local dealers are quoting ior the graded pack in new cases iob station AL 00. AM 5B. AP 88, B 41C 3i. In re- gard to poultry. many enquiries are received in regard to present and iuture prices. Perhaps a re- view o! past operdtions is the beat answer to these enquiries. At least producers will have the ‘facts and can iorm their own opin- ion on this subject. I Ixport Poaltry Market The high prices received ior poultry during the past iew years was made possible through an_ex- port outlet or market. in the be- ginning, poultry was shipped to the United Kingdom and when this market for poultry was lost, a market ior all surplus poultry was secured in U. S, A. Up until recently, it was quite easy to sell poultry in the U. S. A. Prices were high and buyers were active but the position ior the future promises to be more diiiicult. it is assumed and start- ing now and ior the balance oi the season that the U.S.A. will have a very large crop oi poultry. The ent. Poultry prices in U. S. A. have eased and continue to ease until today they are not much higher than those in Canada. As a result ot these lower prices. two things may be expected to icilow from the present position in U. S. A. 1i as seems indicated prices are to‘ be somewhat lover than during the past year. More poul- try is going to be sold in Canada and with selling to the United States to be more difficult, more eiiort will be difeeiod towards selling in Canada. A greater amount oi poultsv will have to be consumed in Canada this year. Pelee iildepend thee:- and . eiiects oi this are already appar- a I ed.
