Having spent three years in the service hs returned home, and took charge tgf .Pownal school where he taught for several terms with much acceptance. While teach- ing in this school he organized the' boys brigade and drilled the boys of 'the school in military exercises. Rsslgnlng this position tic went. to St. John, N. B., and engaged in mercantile business, but owing to ill health he was compelled to return to his home. Hia health having 'im- proved hc obtained a position in elm Government Land Ofllcs in Charlotte- town, but was again compelled on account of failing health to rest. He came to his home in Alexandra and everything possible was done to re store him to health but without ‘a- vail. He gradually grew weakenand after s. few months siiileriiig bctne with Christian resignation, he passed away. Being endowed with a kind heart. and a genial spirit he readily made friends of all with whom he met.. He was converted two years ago in special services conducted by Rerv. D. R. Chowen in the Methodist Church at Pownal, and soon after united with the Baptist Church at Alexandria. I-Ie lived a. consistent Christian life and died trusting in the merits of his redeemer. His remains were laid to rest in theicem- etsry at Alexandra. The boys brig- a/de in uniform, under the command of MaJor Jonas, led the procession from the hpiise to the church yard. The funeral arvlce was conducted by Rev. E. A. McPhee assisted by Rev. D. R. Chowon. He loaves tio mourn his mother. ons sister and two' brothers. also his gi-and parents with 'whom he made his home from child- hood, and a. large circle of relatives |and friends, for whom much sympathy .-ls felt.-Com.
