Messrs Hudson & McQ.uarz‘ie, and of
about 500 lbs of butter, shipped by the

,Then there is yet the cheese shipments,
3 and the pork buyers maintiin that the
largest shipment of hogs is yet to come.

Mr. Crosby’s lecture on the manners
and customs of the Indians in British
Columbia, where he has labored for the
past _,thirty-six years. Rev. W. ‘J. ‘
Kirby presided and introduced the 'lec-
turer wi ha few appropriate remarks.
Mr. Crosby began by referring briefly
to the wonderful resources of the coun-
tryin the shape of timber, fish and min- p
erais. Especially to the fish did het
make some very amusing reterences-»
fish stories inthe true sense of the term.
Ile spoke also ot the immense gold pro-
duct.- of the country. It was his opin- ~
ion that an immense back-bone ol gold
extended from California to the Alaskan

lecturer then went on to speak of the
Indians._ He told many interesting
stories oi: incidents that happened in
his experience in referring to the habits,
and manners of this wonderful people.
They are intensely inimitable quick
to learn and ready to grasp and apply
the truth of the Gospel of Christ which
he taught to them. The speaker
made several pathetic references to the
wonderful self-sacrificing spirit of the
Indians.showing they would do anything
and go anywhere that their friends and
loved ones might know the truth as
they had learned it Especially did he
refer to their strict observance ol- the ~
Lord's day w/hen once they h-td learned
the Law of God in regard to it. In
fact they had been the instruments of
causing the Government at Ottawa to
pass a law regulating the Sabbath day.
The lt ctu're throughout was one of deep
interest and the lecturer showed that he
was in possession of apwondeiful power
to interest and impress deeply in his
amusing yet effective way the minds cf
those who listened,with the lessons he,
wished them to carry away. At the
close he attired himself in the chief’s
dress and appeared before the ‘ audience
as quite a curiosity. Some selections
were also supg by him in the Indian
language. The meeting closed with
the benedicaion. `
