It is being 'maintained by some that two or three medical questions have become so important, that each nation should appoint ri board of medical scientific specialists, to give authoritative decisions on disputed points. It is` pointed out that through the agency of the Anti-Vac- cination Society a widespread doubt bas arisen as to the use of vaccina- tion at a'i1, particularly as it is maintained that the average number of cases of smallpox is no greater than those killed by lightning. Those who speak thus hold that the whole- sale inoceulation of school children has danger connected with it, and that the most careful selection of competent judges should give a final deliverance on the matter. The ques- tion of' vivisection is also one on which dif1ei'ence,of opinion prevails, and some say that the same or a similar tribunal should give a decis- ion on the matter. ' ____._____- ` ELECTRIC LAMP. ,. For more than thirty years since the invention of the carbon filament in the electric lamp, that lamp has chiefly held sway, but new lamps have been coming in gradually and , lately in much abundance. The Arnst electric lamp has been in use some thirteen years. The objection to it was the difficulty in lighting it. But it is said'that this has been some- what overcome. The Osmiiim lamp was next but it will only do for a low voltage. The same 0bi¢°'¢i0“ holds to the Tridium lamp. Graphi- tized dlaments and as well those made of lamp-black are used and some still advocate them. The Tung- sten lamp is greatly recommended-. In Freston, near Ipswich, in Eng- land, an alarming and piizzling dis- case has lately shown itself. A man, his wife, his two children, and the next door neighbor have all died from it. Dr. Bulstrode, the health omcer, has reported on the matter. He states that in neighboring par- ishes a dead rat and also a dead hare had di-ed from some disease of n vefry uncommon kind. He advises touch rats, hares, or rabbits that, had died a natural death. Tlic licnltli officer-declares that tho rodents oi th district are certainly infected wi%h a malignant disease. This suggests to us the occurrence of a year or two ago of the infec- tion of rats and other animals asso- ciated with them communicating the biibonic plague. . i 4! Grand Trunk Railway System. You’ve noticed how your-bread or pies or cakes turn out With Varying degrees of success, and. _you have blamed the heat of the stove, the quantities of your ingredients and anything but the right thing. The difference between constant success and uncertainty is the differenge between Beaver Flour. and flours that cannot be depended upon in all baking operations. Unfailing results demand the use of “BEAVER” FLOUR. The reason is simple. Here is_ a flour that is blended from the rich, nutritious Manitoba Spring wheat and the more delicate Ontario Fall wheat. One has an abundance of gluten, that goes to build up the human frame with nourishing food, while the other ensures lightness and whiteness. The blended wheat properties in Beaver Flour provide a perfect combination for making whole- some bread, biscuits, cakes and pastry that are as pleasing to the eye as they are sweet to the palate. Put it to the severest tests you can devise, and we are willing to abide by your judgment. i DEALERS-Write for prices on Feed, Coarse Grains :ind Cereals. THE T. Il. 'l`AYl.0R C0..
