Dept. of Agriculture, organized in Kings held at the Cardigan Legion Hall, Saturday, August 23rd. Over three hundred 4-H Club members Oat- tended and participated in the program organized by Mr. David MacLean, Kings County Agricul- tural representative. The chairlady of the rally, Miss Yvonne Gallant, Souris 4-H Gar- ment Club who was introduced by Peacock, told the members of the important role they were flflying in their community by lecoming better citizens through the cooperative work and train- lng of 4-H work. Al'lenclcfnce AT Cardigth Blood 1 Donor Clinic Cardigan held its first Blood Donor Clinic last summer when the objective of 100 was exceeded by a considerable number at an afternoon Clinic. This year’s Clin- ic is again in the afternoon, and th; objective is the same, but Mr. Brothers feels quite confident that the results will be even more successful than last year and that Cardigan will be "in the running” for the coveted “Manning Trophy”. MUSIC TEACHER Shortly to resume the teaching of music in a number of Kings County schools is Mrs. Holden MacLure, a versatile artist. Mrs. MaoLure has been teach- ing music in rural schools for over ten years and has extensive training in voice. piano, harmony and composition. Mrs. MacLure has taken courses at Mount Allison University in school music, church music, choir dir- ecting, composition, Idrama. piano, choral singing, and in 1957 took a course in the Orfif method of music training for children. This method is built around the child’s instinctive interest in movement, rhythm and sound. Besides being an accomplished musician, Mrs. MacLure has taken part in numerous drama-tic production, is the author of unpublished, and in 1952 was the winner of a Music Festival award for singing an original sacred number for which she had written both .words and music, “Prayer For Peace”. Earlier this year she was the winner of two scholarships at the Kings County Music Festival, and a number of scholarships were also awarded to her pupils in rural schools. One of Mrs. MacLure's best known poems, entitled “The Ac— companist,” has been published a number of times including the 1932 September 26th edition of the Guardian.
