At the ,nge of 22 years he married Misa Prldhum of the some place, by whom he had two sons, Philip and' William. His father, being a man of ample means, gave his sons a good education. One son was a popular Anglican minister, another a successful lawyer. Charles the subject of this sketch, he set up in business, but lie became dissatis- iled with his surroundings, 64 years ago. He settled on the farm on Col- ville Road, on which he lived until his death. Ball) predeceased him, al- so Phllip; William P. ranching in Al- berta; Rev. S. Edward a popular and very successful Methodist mini~ star out. what, Samuel in Taunton, Mass; `Danig_l P.~ and John fR. in Washington. Seattle; Elizabeth Ann (Mrs. Browp) Michigan; Fanny(Mrs. Everett 'Ba}_1) out west; and~R. Nicholas on-'the homestead. I-Ils wife predeceased him two years ago. He experienced all the prlvations and_ discomforts of the pioneer but by sound judgment, and per-serving in- dustry hc found himself surrounded in his latcr,years with all the com- forts, and many of the luxuries, of this life. When the weight of years began to press heavily upon him he was kindly, and tenderly cared for by his son, R. Nicholas and the latter's wife and children. He also loaves forty-three grand children, and eleven great-grand children. In politics he was n. Liberal. in religion a Methodist. Many years iago he was appointed a Magistrate, which position he filled to the satisfaction, of the community, and honour to himself, until the death of her Gracious Majesty the late Queen Xictoria. The same distinction was conferred upon his son R. Nicholson a few years ago on account of in- creasing years he did not qualify under King Edward VII. In his capacity of J.- P. many cases were brought to him for advice. He by his wisdom, and kindly nature and sound Judgment, had many settled out of Court. He never looked for political honor. He was highly re- pccted by all that knew him. and they were not e. few. Rev. Mr. Har- rison of Cornwall conducted the funeral services, at the house, and at the grave. An unusually large num- ber of neighbors, and friends, follow- ed him to his last resting place. The pall bearers were Hon. John Balder~ ston, James Wynne, Ewen McMillan. Andrew McElroy, James Beer, Wil- llsm F.
