ADA AND HER PALS is a popular canine act featuring trained dogs whose intelligence is almost human. LOUIS AND OLIVER are graduates of the Barnum and Bailey circus. three peonlc doing balancing and acrobatics that will delight young and old. One of the most pleasing‘ features of the Vaudeville Program ll the MANHATTAN NIIFSICAL REVUE consisting of tenprctty girls whose colorful dancing routines are both artistic and dc- llghtful to behold. With them will be Miss Georgina Dclter, a beautiful and noted singer who has been under engagement in the principal theatres and also outdoors in the largest cities of the United States. Miss Delter will also act as Mistress of Ceremonies. The music will be furnished by a highly trained orchestra and the stage will he set with attractive scenery and modern lighting effects. At night it will he an unforgettable scene and one that no one can afford to miss. Climaxing the wl be s lasts of fireworks. ,- The week of August 12th to 15th will be looked forward to by many thousands of people as it will usher in OLD HOME WEEK AND PROVINCIAL EXHIBITION at Charlottetown, the capital city of Prince Edward Island. Steadily built up through the years it is now looked on as one of the outstanding outdoor amuse- ment spectaclés in Canada and has even been com pared very favorably with some of the best in the U. S. A. Sporing no expense the management has brought high wire acts. stage acts and Revues from such lcadingcentres as New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Some of these are of European origin rind have been shown for the first time to Canadian audiences here. Prince Edward Island has been called the Kentucky of Canada. principally because of the great racing programs put on at OLD HOME WEEK year after year. (‘pivarrls of $21,000 in purses, premiums and awards. together with the attraction the Island people and track hold for them, brings togcthcr tho fastest trotters and pacers in the Maritimes. Each afternoon at two o'clock the starter will give the word ‘Go’ and the horses are on their way and usually the finishes are very close and exciting. It is not unusual to see 10,000 people standing and cheering their favorites on. interspersed between the heats of the harness races will bl the vaudeville acts. the whole program carried along so smoothly and happily that before one realizes it the show is over. No one who has not been to Old Ilome Week can visualize the excitc~ merit. tho pulsating joy’, the real thrills that go with this ciim~ blnation of harness horse racing anti vaudeville. It is unique and visitors from the United States that have seen the greatest tracks say there is nothing to compare with it. It must be true. for year after year people as far away as California plan their holidays to see it. This year one of the most frequent causes of dispute, namely the judging oi close finishes, will he eliminated by the usc of the photo-finish camera, which furnishes a complete picture of cach l-larnoss Racing finish within less than four minutes after the leading horse crosses the line. Perhaps while we have the opportunity it might he of interest to give an ides of the trotting and pacing events that will be raced. First. there is the big $1.000 Free For All Pace which will bring together the stars of the Marltimes and others. For those ~ with slightly less speed there is the Junior Free For All, purse ‘ $700. and $600 classes for 2.18, 2.20, 2.23 pacers; $500 for 2.20, 2.20. 2.28 and 2.29 pacers; $000 purse for 2.19 trotters; $500 purses for 2.24 and 2.28 trotters. also s Four Year Old Futurity Trot and Pace that will be worth at least $600. Some of the above classes will flll to over-flowing snd will have to be split snd raced in divisions. For the driver who scores the most points the Maedonald Tobacco Company of Montreal has donated s sterling silver tro- phy known as the British Consois Trophy. To the owner of the horse breaking the track record of 2.0545 will be given $50. also $50 to the owner of the horse breaking the track trotting record of 2.07%. Competent and experienced oflicisis will handle the meeting and the fairest and most generous treatment will be given to every horseman. It is this knowledge that has year after year made Old Home Week entry lists the envy of tracks throughout the length and breadth of Canada.
